Dr. Young Appointed to the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners

Recently I received a great honor in being appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to be a member of the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners. This board is made up of 6 chiropractors and one member of the public. It's purpose is to direct the practice of Chiropractic in the state of Oregon with regards to licensing and public protection. For example if you want to become a chirorpactor or a chiropractic assistant you must apply to the board. In addition the board makes rules about how Chiropractic is practiced. One recent rule was regarding pre-paid plans making programs like the Booster Club available.

If you know me then you know that I am already insanely busy? Why would I want to add one more thing to my already overflowing plate? (you and my wife would like to know) Well, if you know me then you also know that I don't sit on the sidelines when it comes to anything I'm passionate about. I'm passionate about chiropractic and making it available to everybody. Service on the board is an opportunity to protect and promote this important healing art. So how can I stand by and watch when an opportunity like this presents itself?

Chiropractic's focus on prevention and wellness are critical to solving the health crisis we are facing in this country. Of all the first-world countries the United States is the sickest. We have all of the tools, resources and innovations we need to be the healthiest. However this requires a shift in focus from drugs, surgeries and health plans to lifestyle, prevention and wellness. This is the reason I became a Chiropractor. It's the reason I love seeing people come in to my practice each day, because I know we are making a dent in the problem.

I look forward to serving YOU all in the future!
